AI vs Data

AI gave everyone the same output. Data decided whose output was right.

Everyone is arguing about AI.

Nobody looked at where the money went.

The big groups spent billions buying data companies. Not AI companies. That is the part that keeps sitting with me.

The reason is simple once you see it.

They already have the tools. Everyone does. The same models are available to a holding company and to a freelancer in Dubai on the same afternoon. You cannot sell a client something they can buy themselves.

Data is different.

An identity graph takes years to build. Permissions, acquisitions, legal work, market by market. Nobody can spin one up over a weekend. That is a real barrier, and AI does not have one.

There is a second reason underneath it.

AI makes the work. Data decides where the work goes and whether it gets renewed. One of those is a cost line. The other is a contract that runs for years.

So the money went where it always goes. To the thing that is hard to copy.

I am not learning data. I do not have the room for it, and it is not the work I want to be doing.

I am staying with the making.

But it is worth knowing who is holding the other end.
